Collonges today

The « France’s Most Beautiful Villages » association was created in Collonges la Rouge in 1982. Its headquarters are still in Collonges today. Charles Ceyrac, the town’s mayor at the time, was looking for a way to enhance tourism in small yet remarkable towns. To ensure the quality of the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” label, the association is quite strict when selecting the applications of towns that wish to become members.
A lively outdoor theatre festival « Les Théâtrales » takes place in Collonges every year. The first edition was organized in 1991, by “Collonges Animations Spectacles”. Every Tuesday evening between mid-July and mid-August, plays are performed in an outdoor theatre on Place du Lavoir square. They are family friendly comedies based on classical theatre, commedia del arte and Vaudeville.
